Applying for EHIC for Child

My son (13) has school trip in May and he needs an EHIC

Trying to apply online, it looks like I have to apply for one in my name and include him as a Dependent Child.

If I do this, does he get his own separate EHIC card or will he just be named on mine?

    Thanks,

the wording on the Online application form is terrible.

It makes it sound as though you are adding others to the card you are applying for rather than applying for individual cards.

It also appears that you can't apply for a child's one if you haven't got one yourself.

Make sure you use the official website.

Some companies are still advertising their 'services'.
I've seen one website that charges £35.00 for your free EHIC.

The person registering must be at least 16 years of age. As the main applicant, you can apply for an EHIC for yourself, your partner and any dependent children you have.

If you are under the age of 16, a parent or guardian will need to register as the main applicant. They must enter their details first and apply for any additional cards when prompted.
