Hi There,
I am a UK Citizen, currently living and working in Ireland. I used to bank in the UK with Barclays, but had my account closed down a few months ago - long story!.
Does anyone know where I can open a UK current account without working in the UK. I even have a UK address that I can use.
Thanks
James

If you are near a port get a day return foot passenger ticket to Holyhead or Liverpool - bring ID and address confirmation.
Most banks will see you on the day.0 -
There isnt a way of opening a bank account until you have been seen(verified) If you have been on the votors roll at the UK address you have used then you can complete 75% of process online at hsbc.co.uk who can verify you at the address you inout. But the final stage will involve popping into any uk branch and signing the agreement aswell as showing DLicense and Passport.0

My brother recently opened a HSBC current account online and the last part (sending in your id etc) can be done by post instead of going into a branch if one wishes.
Once an HSBC account is open you can change the address to your Irish address using Internet Banking if you wanted.
Otherwise you could consider a bank which operates in both the UK/Ireland and see if they can help you - for instance Halifax or Ulster Bank (owned by Natwest/RBS)

for Nationwide you can do it online and you will be offered at least a basic Account, you then need to post original bill of your address and ID.0

I cant get past the part where it asks me about my employer - they need a postcode to verify the address, which I obviously cant do as its in Ireland.
Could I get away with putting our head office address, as it is in London?0 -
As you would not be making it up I don't see why not.0
