Bought a 3pk of Redex Diesel System Cleaner for £4 from B&M (link). It says to use half a bottle with a full tank of diesel but I put a whole bottle into a quarter of a tank of diesel and then went on a 20 mile 60MPH'ish hoon up some A roads.
Has it made a difference? Who knows!

Is there a point? Who knows!0

I bought a product from Halfords once, something like £12 reduced to £3.
Got it home, read the bottle, it was odourless kerosene.
I could have taken it out my home heating oil tank and paid around 12p. Sure, it would have smelled, but not much mixed with 70 litres of diesel.0 -

Give it a week's driving. Unfortunately you've not followed the advice so contrary to belief putting in a whole bottle in a few gallons of diesel won't work as well as if you'd put 1/2 a bottle in a tank. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'll use the other 2 bottles correctly. Just wanted to see if it makes a difference or not by putting a whole bottle in.0 -
And how will you know if it makes a difference?
I've used this stuff myself before and it didn't make any noticeable difference. I recorded all mileage, fuel consumption etc before and after.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -
engine deposits build up over years in nano layers, just like say paint on a wall.. and must be cleaned away in the same way.. layer by layer.. over time.
this is (allegedly) done by these products slowly over the course of a tank flowing through, which can be many hundred miles driving, over several weeks or months.. slowly cleaning away at each layer.
simply throwing an entire pot of paint thinner at a wall wont eat away at 100 layers of paint in one go.. only the top few layers, putting it on a few times a day for six weeks will though..
same principle!!0
