Online uk passport renewal

Guys, Please be aware that if renewing passports online, that you and family members (Living @ the same address), are not guaranteed the same Passport Office, We have been given 2 different ones, Hence have to send old passports back to different offices, Not Very Customer Friendly. Should it not be the Office nearest to your location.

Unless you need to attend, there's no good reason for it to be the one closest to your location. Post is distributed in the same way whether the recipient is 50 miles or 200 miles away.

Customers are individuals, not families.

I don't see any grounds for complaint.

I imagine that the application is directed to the quickest turnaround which may vary. I can't see any issue with it either.

We used the website recently and the new passport was here within the week using a photo taken at home on a mobile phone and uploaded. We thought the system was great.

Yes everyone are individuals, But my point is if you apply by paper you will be sending all applications/old passports to one office not 2 or 3 different ones, ie extra postal costs if sending securely.

You are free to apply by post if you wish to.

Applications are processed according to where it is most efficient to do so. The aim is to get it back to you in as quick a time as possible. That is good customer service. Your postal costs are not their concern.

It states quite clearly that sending "tracked" is not required, this is because the old passport does not need insurance, you have already paid for a new one. If the old one was lost you would simply declare it such and it would be noted on your records.

If the passports are sent off in good time of any holiday then theres no problem, you can track them and you get updates on the progress.

Whats the problem if they are sent to different offices, all that matters is the applicants get the passports back.

Did you not know theres quite a few of use in here who work for the passport as well as the 2 you mention.

Why is it an 'issue'?
A few 1st class stamps instead of one is hardly breaking the bank, especially when compared with the cost of a foreign holiday for the whole family.

Informed because I have just used the service without any issue. Not because I work for them.

It makes no difference where you send them. Put them in the one (strong) envelope and send them to one office. The reason you got different offices is that it selects the office For you is so that there is an even distribution of work across all sites.
