I remember seeing a For Sale sign up outside a great house in an area I was intending to live and swiftly called the agent. He was quite sheepish and then admitted that the owner was livid to come home from work and see the sign in his front garden.

Turns out that it was meant for a house on the same named street in a neighbouring town

Sounds like they meant to reduce a different property, very annoying, hopefully does not undermine the price and unfortunately unlikely anything you can do about it.

I'd say that as RightMove usually shows changes in asking price, it could affect a buyer's perception.

If possible, maybe they could delete the listing and re-list as new - so it does not show as price drop followed by a price raise?

Bottom line is most price expectations are being undermined daily by the general sentiment anyway, this won`t make much difference either way, either someone wants it at your price or they don`t :)
