Weather really was not nice to you
I live away from towns, and have a camping gas stove and light, both run off the blue cylinders so only 1 type to keep as spares, plus 1 saucepan and 1 kettle that are small enough to go on the stove safely. Candles and torch are obvious, and you can get a generator or 2 fairly easily so that 1 could keep the heating going and the other could run a laptop, mobile phones and probably a small heater or the tv as well depending on the kw output. Mine are old, but have proved well worth buying over the years.Credit card debt - NIL

Yes we'll be investigating generators, would be useful to have one that powered the heating but no idea how that works.
We are home, granite is in! Looks good, although one of the joins could do with some more sealant in... looks like water might get in otherwise. Kitchen fitter is back tomorrow to put doors etc on so will see what he can do.
One of the stupid new chickens managed to basically make a rope of hay and get her leg stuck in it 🙄 she's fine now but for goodness sake!
Need a stiff gin tonight, although not until I've painted the bedroom ceiling.
Tomorrow is going to be chaos - kitchen fitter here first thing, carpet fitter coming at half 9, then boiler man coming at 5. Will we be able to use the sink at the end of it? Maybe!10 -
Hurrah for Kitchen progress - is tomorrow likely to be the last full-on day with stuff going on do you think? (*Crosses fingers*)🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I *think* he should get all the doors and appliances sorted tomorrow, yes. We'll still need the electrician back for a day to attach the oven/hob/fridge, finish the smoke alarm, sort the last couple of plug sockets, and he promised to change us a light switch as well, but that should just be a day.
Nobody else is doing anything to the bedroom after tomorrow though! Except us and the rest of the painting... 🙄
Mr Cheery is despairing slightly about that join... 🙄 I'm hoping it's just that they need to let one lot of sealant dry before putting the rest in, but we'll see. Sadly I did as requested and transferred the granite money to the kitchen guys this morning so we have no hold if they don't fix it (except not paying the kitchen geezers for what they've done I suppose!) BUT let's hope they can just sort it out easily...
Gosh I am really hankering after a bath this evening.. 🙄 Was just looking on the local Premier Inn website to see about going there for the night 🙄6 -

Thanks beanie 😊
Didn't paint the ceiling 🙄 Took me ages to remove all the paper from the skirting boards (it'll get in the way of the carpet fitting), and of course I left the masking tape on for far too long and I've managed to rip some of the stupid gold paint off so that'll need touching up. By the time I'd removed all the painting debris from the room it was far too late to be clambering on ladders - and anyway Mr Cheery needs to get up there and bevel the edge of the step a bit so the carpet doesn't wear through 🙄
As for the stupid join in the worktop, we think we've worked out what's happened - someone's measurements are just ever so slightly off, and because of the position of the sink, they couldn't quite shove one bit of granite properly up against the other. Then they've plonked a tool box on one bit to pin it down, but it's pinned it down a bit too much.
The join on the other side is fine, look:
But on this side, it just looks like a big black line...
And the left side of the join is higher than the right
Why is nothing ever easy? Kitchen fitter texted me a couple of hours ago reminding me about the money, so I've told him I've sent it, but asked what's happening with sorting this out (should we at least prop it a little so the two bits are the same height before the glue dries??), and not had a reply...

They’ll need to come back and sort that I reckon - it’d drive you made looking like that! Definitely don’t be tempted to try and sort it yourselves though else they’ll say it was fine until that. 😬 With luck the kitchen fitter will be on your side as well - he won’t want his work being let down by that I should think!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Had a reply from the kitchen fitter - "I did ask you not to touch anything as it all needs to dry and set lol" 🙄😠 To be fair he did follow that with another message saying there's nothing that can't be sorted out in the morning... Well, let's hope for everyone's sake that's true!
I was just checking back to see if I had any November goals I could update on. Not on here it seems (except a supposed uber frugal month 😂😂😂🙈), but a few things have happened...
* kitchen has been put in! No appliances yet but getting there!
* bedroom painting is over half way! Still plenty to do but got behind over the weekend rather annoyingly
* had to have poor old Rysty chicken put to sleep, and then got three new chickens, and have been trying to keep the peace ever since
* obviously four rather dramatic days with no electric 🙄😂
No attempt to be frugal, no real exercise, no curbing of cafe trips, no extra income 🙄
But we have made it to the end of the month intact so that's got to be a success, right??8 -
Cheery, I'm glad that you have rejoined civilisation - this southern softy finds the very idea of your recent 'adventure' traumatic! Getting through November pretty much intact is something to be celebrated I think. It's not difficult!

Just waiting for carpet geezer now - hadn't realised quite how many blobs of plaster were on the floor so we've done a proper scrape and hoover now.
Lovely sunny day here! Had some weird snow/hail overnight which looks like several bags of polystyrene balls have exploded over the garden 😂9
