Thank you all
Tis indeed sad. Xxx
Today is marginally less gloomy than yesterday (so far). I've had a couple of productive work meetings, and crossed off a few small niggly tasks that had been sitting round for a while. Got another meeting 2-4, and then I've agreed to be a guinea pig for a friend of a friend who's training to be a coach, so that'll be another hour at tea time, then a video call with some pals this evening to commiserate over our shared loss
More snow here today, feels like we've only had a couple of days of green since the last lot melted! Chickens are safe and cosy in their run of course.
And some good news - my mum has had the first dose of the vaccine! We weren't sure when it would happen - she works in a hospital, but not working directly with patients (and it's a psychiatric hospital anyway) but does access some of the same areas. It seems they started with front line staff of course, then admin staff on wards, and now they've got to back office staff too, so that's good news. I know it's different around the country but I'm pleased they seem to be on the case where she is. She's really pleased too as she's been terrified of catching it, she lives on her own, and has had to go into the office every day, so hopefully this will make her a bit less anxious.10 -
So sorry to hear your sad news Cheery. My condolences to you and Mr Cheery.
My dad who is 83 had his first vaccine jab yesterday. He was so keen which was a surprise as he refuses the flu jab every year but he phoned me to take him as soon as he got the notification. It feels as though we might be approaching the beginning of the end of this dreadful thing with the start of the rollout7 -
@Cheery_Daff - so pleased to hear that your Mom has been vaccinated.
I'm on tenderhooks waiting to hear when my Mom (across the pond) will be offered her's!
@Tescodealqueen - happy to hear your Dad is keep to take up the vaccine. - Like you, I can't wait until we beat this dreadful thing!

At least that's good news on the vaccinations, Cheery. I must say, as somebody who's supposedly in Group 5 to be vaccinated (I think they're doing anybody from 1 - 4 at the moment) I think hospital and care staff should take priority over me.
I can't imagine what a video call for a joint bereavement is like ... I hope it feels right for all of you, and leaves you in a better space than when you started.2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -
Sorry to hear of your bad news Cheery 🙁
But good news on your mum getting the vaccine, fingers crossed the roll-out really gathers pace.
