I've always been reluctant to move things once they're in, but actually if they're in the wrong place it totally makes sense! Rowan and sole are just going about 12 feet to the left, where it's much more well drained, and I'm going to dig up my willow and shift it to the soggy boggy bit (so possibly even less rain garden, more willow bog). Brought willow cuttings from the old house but it seems I planted them in our only dry spot and they've barely grown 2 foot in 2 years - in the old house they were touching the phone wires after a few weeks
Anyway, a triumph (of sorts) already this morning, and before 7am - I found the old car key!! You know, the one we couldn't find and assumed we'd thrown out with the recycling and paid £288 to replace?? Yes, that one - hanging over a clothes rail right next to the bed... 🙄
Oh well, at least we've got three now...
Sun is shining! Need to get breakfasted and get outside!!7 -
Does that mean you now have a front door key as well?Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

But it would reduce your LPG costs, that's for sure.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Interesting BB, thank you for sharing! One of our neighbours had underfloor heating put down in the kitchen too, I confess it was lovely walking in there. I don't think it's something we'll be doing right now but it's good to know what's possible 😊
Right, it's not on my list, but BLACKBERRIES!! Still feeling quite tired and achey today so trying to NOT let myself do some of the bigger digging/scything things. Oh, and we've realised it'll be easier to varnish the ceiling beams BEFORE putting the plasterboard in, so a little trip to the DIY shop this afternoon for varnish.7 -
Thanks for the explanation of a rain garden Cheery - sounds like a great idea, and if it's a bog, even better for the environment!
BB, that is fascinating - I bet it cost a fortune to do, but how lovely (a friend has UFH in her extension and warm feet are the best part of it. Will bear that in mind if we buy the GII property we're going to see tomorrow!

Darn it, I STILL didn't end up with the blackberries!! Had a complete mental block when I went outside and ended up turning the hay in the meadow. For goodness sake. Tired again now, unsurprisingly... Had tea, but now needing more tea
And then I really WILL go and pick some blackberries!

Oh Cheery! I’m beginning to think it’s not meant to be!

No, it IS meant to be!! I put the kettle on and sat down to watch a quick video... but sadly we had some kind of power cut and the kettle wouldn't boil! Pah!
So I'm now out in the field with the blackberries, hooray!
