Ooh, before I go - just transferred bins refund (£60) into mortgage pot and updated total to £479.34 :money: With the extra from surveys it should be over £500 by the end of next week :j :j :j

I shall spend the day cogitating on that rather than on how spendthrift I've been :o :rotfl:

You're being far more disciplined than me... I just look at how much was left in my account when my salary goes in and shift that to savings. And I'm being a bit slow about sorting out my expenses which I need to do in time for the CC bill to come in. Thankfully hotel bills are now mostly paid direct, but the claim for the last month currently stands at over £2.5k and I haven't done the last week yet (which will be more expensive as my boss was paying for meals for the first week!).

I hope you've got the sunshine we have. I need to spend some time in the garden, but today is hair appointment day, so I'll be spending it drinking coffee and reading novels while my hairdresser attempts to make me look younger ... the appointment is a couple of weeks overdue and I've got way too much hair and a lot of it is the wrong colour!

Crikey greenbee, get those expenses claimed!! seems awful that you have to shell out that much before you can claim it back

Since I started using YNAB I have most pots in the same account so Ican't just shift what's left at the end sadly - it includes monthly savings for stuff like car insurace etc  and at the minute I don't actually think there *would* be anything else left :o :rotfl:

Car loaded and we're off to the tip :j :j

Bah to the faff with the card! Did you see in the news the problems V!sa have been having? Thank goodness it wasn't both big brands as work lunch yesterday would have been very embarassing! I now have cash in my wallet as well - reminded me how dependent we've all become on electronic transactions!

Cheery don't forget that the only way to form a good habit is to fail a few times first! Don't beat yourself up overly due to a bit of frittering - it's always hard to settle back into routine after you've moved! (I've moved 25 times in my life & it never gets easier!!!)

Hooray to having updated YNAB for the month! That is my next chore - We've had several bills higher than expected this month, so a rejig of the budgeting is due - too bad my salary is not keeping pace with inflation!
    4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)
(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)
    ...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)
New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)
Psst...I may have started a diary!

I did see the visa problems RT - mostly I was just jealous of anyone who could even use a cash machine... :rotfl: :rotfl: I am definitely pretty reliant on my plastic and don't have anything other than Visa - something to think about maybe...

Been to the tip - no manure available on the way home but I did get a couple of bags of municipal potting conpost to use in the greenhouse, and Mr Cheery intercepted an electric guitar someone was throwing away :rotfl: We only have about 30 (literally - that is NOT an exaggeration) :rotfl:

Found something else thatcan go on Freegle while sorting out the garage so must do that today and see if I can get rid this weekend.

(Now is probably not the time to confess that we are currently in the cafe again... :o:o ) :rotfl:

Cafe is good - you're supporting a local business :)

We claim expenses monthly (although there is some discussion about those of us with high levels of travel being able to claim more frequently), but I didn't get my May ones in on time because I'd forgotten to scan a couple of receipts before I left home. I suppose I could have deleted them and added them to June, but I was feeling lazy. I hate doing expenses.

Expenses in the last job were much bigger as all hotels and airfares were paid on the card - but it was a company card, with a massive credit limit, and paid direct by the company.

I've given up going to the tip after realising that it was the reason I was getting a lot of punctures. I have to find other ways to get rid of stuff now!

Tis indeed tedious claiming expenses greenbee... hope you get paid soon!

Eek to punctures at the tip! Our new tip is lovely :j The blokes know me :rotfl: one this morning threatened to fix the hydraulic arm on the back door of my car if I hadn't done it before I went back :rotfl: it's currently held up by a curtain pole :rotfl:

I second what others have said Cheery about not beating yourself up. We managed to pay off our mortgage (not as high as yours) by doing exactly as you re doing and putting every spare penny a side and boy did it mount up nicely. We clothed ourselves from car boot sales and had a few stalls selling bits and bobs ourselves. You must allow yourself a treat even if you do go to the caf! twice in one week. I also agree that you are supporting a local business having all those cups of tea and cake. I am sure that it makes you sit for a while too and also have a relax from your busy home life and your work. So definitely yes to going out to the caf! from me.

How is the arc and the coop going? Any further yet? What is the arch made of? is it corrugated iron? Hubby says he thinks that is what they are made of. Remember to make sure it is easy for you to clean. We had several changes with ours until we felt we got it right. Our hens hotel is 6ft by 4ft with one huge nesting box attached to the outside and the ducks hotel is around 4ft square and lined with thick pond liner. Both can be cleaned out in under an hour now.

Keep up the good work Cheery you are doing well you really are. And don't forget to go out for a chill and a cuppa

    Take care

    Evening MSE Chums :hello:

Long and quite expensive day today  The activity itself was budgeted for a long time ago though so that's ok - it mostly only cost me a bit of diesel and some snacks on the way back - because there was an accident that blocked the road and it took me 4 hours to drive 80 miles...

Hey ho, I am grateful I just suffered a minor inconvenience, and not a life changing crash :(

Other than that, it was a nice day :) and I got to meet someone else's chickens :j (and cows and goats and sheep  )

Working the rest of the week, and in an annoying twist of events I am back in the city tomorrow, Wednesday, thursday AND Saturday this week, all without Mr Cheery, so it's rather a week of driving...

Did I mention I lost my bank card?! Still not turned up (quite glad really as it's blocked now). Hoping the new one turns up soon - they said within 5 working days amd it was Friday I realised it was lost, so it could be next weekend before I get back. Most vexing.

Hey ho. I am alive and well and replete with knock off Baileys so all is well with the world :rotfl: :rotfl:
