Well, it won’t have been walnut and maple syrup. 😢
I haven’t been able to get walnut and maple syrup ice cream for 20 years. 😢
It’s gone out of fashion. Everything’s got chocolate bits in it these days. Or cookies. Or marshmallows. 😢 Or weird chemical things.

I make my own Pyxis using this basic recipe.  Just add any flavourings you like before freezing.

It was! The very nicest one was made by a local family firm, so local that I could walk to where they made it! 
A very long time ago they closed down. I can’t remember why. Maybe they got bought out.

That’s such a pity Pyxis! Sadly my favourite is ‘thunder and lightning’ (cinder toffee and chic chip), which you can only get in the Lakes - maybe I’ll have to have a go with Fortune’s recipe.

We also make our own ice cream, in a cheap frozen bowl style machine. 
This our basic recipe is cream, milk, homemade vanilla sugar. The ice cream nation website has lots of information on making ice cream (no surprises there) including recipes for different styles.

@Fortune_Smiles thank you for sharing an alternative method.  As a family, I would like to try different methods of ice cream making so we can compare and contrast.
