Cheery, if they have to wait a few days for their money, so be it. I do think the trades have no concept of how the world works when it comes to invoices - they all seem to expect instant payment, while the rest of the world deals with terms of 30 days at minimum (it's 45 for my American clients and I'm sure bigger companies can take 90 days to pay). It's not right to have to wait a long time (and I do always pay as soon as I can, mainly so I don't forget), but it does irk me that the rules seem to differ for tradespeople!

I'm so glad for you that it's nearly over. 

And poor chickens, but better safe than sorry and the outside run is a fabulous size for them as it is.

Thanks Vix. I'm going to ignore the lot of them til Monday and hope the premium bonds dosh appears before then! 

Progress is being made today. Mr Cheery is on the case with a tricky job downstairs, and I am endlessly painting... Third coat of gold on one wall, second on another, and now I'm getting a second coat of orange everywhere else. Bit fed up of painting now though 😂 Fortunately the ceiling is low, and half the room I can reach the whole wall without getting on a ladder so that makes things easier! 

Going to do the biggest orange wall, then get downstairs. There are a couple of orange walls to finish, but they're next to gold walls that I've painted today, and I don't want to shift the masking tape before I've done the final coat.

Going to force myself to do the first kitchen coat tonight so I can do the second one in the daylight tomorrow.

Did a bit of supervised mingling for the chickens tonight, mostly without incident, although Sunshine is making a bid for the leadership position and took a couple of swipes at Bessie, who is our oldest and favourite chicken. Mr Cheery is NOT impressed.

Waited til the older ones had settled in bed, then threw the others in there with them - the recommended technique for mixing. We'll let them out early, and hopefully there will be minimal squabbling because they'll all be shut in together from Monday 🙄

Can't wait to see the results of all your painting Cheery - it sounds fabulous.

Lucky that you got the new chickens when you did and they've had at least a little time to get used to each other.  This Avian lock down thing has put me off getting chickens again altogether.

Good to hear you're winning as far as the painting goes. It makes me appreciate that I'm only doing odd bits now. I've primed & undercoated the inside of the back door today (two coats on breaks from work in the afternoon) and just done the first coat of satin (Brewer's own-brand version of F&B Teresa's Green). Final coat will either go on last thing tonight or first thing tomorrow, and then I can put the handle, hook, and keyhole cover back on!

I'm almost at the end now - I have a friend coming over tomorrow to help put up a batten and curtain pole, and then we're going to go through the house and identify all the things that actually NEED doing (i.e. those things that have been there so long I no longer see them but matter, rather than the things that irritate me and no one else will notice).

Ooh, you're so close now greenbee! Can't wait til I get to that stage - it's getting there with the kitchen and bedroom, but it'll be another 10 years with the rest of the house I imagine... 🙄😂😂

It's awful Fortune 🙄 The first two winters we had ours were fine, then last year's lockdown was from mid December til 1st April - 3.5 months 😕 This year's is starting on 29th November and I can't imagine we'll be out til April again. It just to be just an occasional thing, but if it's going to be every year it'll put me off too, I hate it. Although I have to say the chickens didn't seem that bothered last year -  after an indignant few days of trying to follow us out,they just accepted it, and when we finally let them out in April it took them ages to bother to wander out of the gate 😂

Hate to think it might be Bessie's last time wandering in the house though 🙄 Hope she makes it through to the other side, she's knocking on a bit now 🙄

Well, inevitably I didn't get as far in my painting as I wanted to... but I'm stopping now anyway. Most of the bedroom is done now - one of the gold walls will need another coat, and two of the small orange ones in alcoves. Oh, and the entire ceiling 😂

Kitchen fitters are here first thing tomorrow to put a back on a bit of cupboard, and as soon as they've gone I'll get painting - should be able to do two coats tomorrow, and finish off the gold & orange upstairs. 

Then maybe bedroom ceiling Sunday??

Then all that's left in the bedroom is oiling the skirting boards - MUCH easier before the carpet goes in.

Good job I'm on strike from Wednesday onwards 🙄🙄🙄

You're doing so well on the painting!  I really admire that - there's plenty I haven't done (ie all over the house ...).  I hope Bessie makes it through to the other side.

Cheery, I hope that you are feeling more relaxed by the time you read this.

I'm sorry that your chooks are in lockdown again (I thought I remembered posting this already, but it seems not). we have had an outbreak of avian influenza not far from here 

It's turned much cooler here and is pretty blowy today - although nothing like as bad as in many areas. Son is down and we met his new young lady for the first time this morning - she seems delightful.

Just to let you know Cheery is fine, but they currently have an awful lot of snow and no electricity so she’s having an enforced social media holiday until they get reconnected again. She doesn’t currently know exactly when that will be though. If you can all send her warming cheerful vibes that would be most welcome!
