Narrow Dishwasher

Hello
I'm about to redo my kitchen - we have a smaller than standard dishwasher - about 45 cm wide, which is fine for just two of us. If we were to lose the full size dishwasher space, it would vastly improve the whole kitchen layout - we can move breakfast bar 15cm, make everything look a lot better. I'm not sure about this, as worried it may be a problem when we sell - admittedly not planning on selling any time soon. OH says just do it, and worry about it later, but I don't want to find it difficult to sell. Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I think this will be another of those some will like smaller dishwasher and nicer kitchen or certainly wouldn't mind and others will say they need full size dishwasher. I would say it would very much depend on the potential market that your house would sell to. If it is mainly family buyers with a couple of children then they would probably expect full size. If there are lots of couples or families with just one child I would say the nicer kitchen would be the way to go. I've always had fullsize dishwasher and found we only used it a couple of times a week then when we moved the kitchen had a small dishwasher and it's been great. It cleans things much better probably because it's on everyday now.0 -
We are a family of four (ok the two little ones are two and four) but we manage fine with a slimline dishwasher. You need it on nce a day anyway as we would run out of plates and bowls!! Our kitchen was small too, a great way to save space and you learn how to pack more efficiently, we get a days worth out of it!!0

Thank you. we're not planning on going anywhere soon, so probably will go for improved layout over large dishwasher. can always say it's an environmental issue having a small dishwasher - that's what everyone seems to want these days! or is that bad, cos you have to use it twice as often?0

I'd put in the small dishwasher. They should be more economical than the large ones so that fact could be pointed out if any future buyer says that it's negative thing. I have a slimline one and it holds lots of dishes. You just need to learn how to load it wisely.0
