Just started looking into this and seems like a good idea.
Curently pay for BT talk 2 option plus line rental approx £30 per month, internet £12 via plus net.
Just seen thesky speak surf and see deal, which measns unlimited phone deals, 2 mixes and 8M 40Gb broad band for £28.
It seems like a good deal, for all 3.
Is it as good as it seems?

Are you sure about that price?
My reading of their website is:
2 mixes + Sky Talk Freetime + Mid broadband = £22/month.
You'd still have to pay BT line rental (£11/month if paid by DD) so the real cost would be £33, not £22.
Of course your 'unlimited phone deals' part is a bit of an overstatement. Unless you paid the extra £5 to upgrade to Sky Talk Unlimited, the basic (Sky Talk Freetime) CPS telephone package included in Sky's See, Speak, Surf includes free UK 01/02 calls (no others) of up to an hour each - evenings and weekends only. Peak 01/02 calls, international calls, calls to mobiles and calls to 084/087 numbers would be extra. Even with Sky Talk Unlimited, calls to mobiles, calls to international destinations not in their list of ten countries and calls to 084/087 numbers would be extra.
OTOH, to get your BT telephony bill down, I'd suggest you clicked on the 'HERE' link in my signature below.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
ok, so I £33 a month.
So with the extra £5 for talk ulimited would give unlimited calls, or would it be limited to 1 hour a day?
Many thanks.0 -

Get 4 mixes @ £19/mth. Sky Mid broadband @ £5/mth.
Then sign up to Post office homephone @£9.95/mth with free evening and weekend calls.
If you are new customer for either or both check out www.quidco.com where you can get cashback for signing up! (Currently £110 for Sky and £9.25 for PO Homephone). :beer:0 -
sorry, my mistake, so it looks like it would be better to go for the sky deal for phone broadband and TV, upgrading the phone to the unlimited option.
Then making sure that each call is under an hour.
Also sign up to 18185, for mobile calls?0 -
Thanks for the info of the cashback, looks good, signed up to R Points, so will go for quidco.
Maybe I'm being a bit dumb here, but with the 4 mixes and broadband @ £5 that totals £25. Add the £9.95 from the post office and it's £35, as it ties in line rental.
Only other thing that I've seen is the Sky Unlimited offers free international calls to USA and Australia, handy as I have relatives in both places.
So it seems like Sky and quidco are the winning combination?0 -
You need to be paying line rental to BT to get Sky Talk (because it is required to do so by Ofcom, BT is the only line provider which allows CPS).
My daughter has:
BT Together Option 1 (line rental by another name) - £10.50/month;
Sky TV - 4 mixes - £19.00/month;
Sky Talk Unlimited CPS - £5.00/month;
Sky Mid broadband - £5.00/month;
A 18185 account (for calls to mobiles and some 0845/0870 calls - see HERE);
But still makes 2 x 4½p calls with the 1280 prefix each month to keep BT Caller Display for 9p/month.
She also dumped 1571 ages ago.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. so sky with 2 mixes and unlimited talk and broadband + BT line rental would be £37.
Seems, like a winner to me.0 -

Seems, like a winner to me.
BT -- £11 (£10.50 if paper-free)
TV -- £17
BB -- £ 5
STU - £ 5
£38
OTOH, if your line can only handle Sky Connect Broadband, the price shoots up by £12.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. damn my shonky adding!
So it's a total of £38 per month, for my broadband, phone and TV.
Right, just need to look at my bills to see how much boradband and separate phone has cost over the last few months.0
