Liquidator payment offer

Hello. The company I worked for for around 3 years was shut down about 8 years ago and at the time I received some money (I can’t recall exactly how much, I think £1000 or so) from the redundancy payments service. Today I have received a letter from the official liquidator of the company say that there maybe sufficient funds to pay preferential creditors some money. They have offered me around £70, but a friend who also worked for the same company has been offered £800. The difference seems mostly be down to wage arrears he has been given £800 and I have been given none.
Does anyone know why there would be such a large difference in what we are being offered?
Thanks
