ESA National Insurance Credits Backdated?

I started claiming ESA in 2014/15, I would have been eligible to claim before then (my health condition which prevents me from working has not changed since 2007), but I didn't realise I was entitled until someone told me. Is it possible to get National Insurance credits backdated to when I first became ill? It seems unfair that I've missed out on almost a decade of NI contributions just because I was ignorant of the benefits system.

I'm afraid to the best of my knowledge that you won't get them back, do you realise that you only need 35 years of NI credits to get a full state pension?0

No it's not possible to get you NI credits backdated beyond the start of the ESA claim.0

Oh, that is a shame.
Thanks anyway. 0
