We have just completed a, 3x5.5 meter, Orangery Extension (with roof lantern) from our Kitchen/Dining space and are really struggling on what to do with the combined spaces. See link for Pictures and Layout drawings, current layout and empty rooms. sizes are in mm.
see link to Layout drawings: goo.gl/hrj98m
Our requirements/wishlist for the rooms are:
Appliances
. 2x Fridge & Freezer Integrated units
. Washing Machine
. Dishwasher
. Tumble Dryer
. Range Cooker 90cm
Furniture
. Dining Table (4-6 seater)
. Comfy Seating for 4+ people (Sofa's/Chairs)
Additional (would love but could be dropped if does fit)
. Breakfast Bar & Island
. Tall Lader Unit
. Desk/work area
any help would be great, we are really struggling for inspiration and ideas.
Thanks

you're kinda going about things the wrong way - usually you start with what you want to fit into a space (the brief) and then you design the extension around fitting those things in!!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'd be struggling too if I'd already built the extension and painted it!
How do you know that your waste and electrical points are in the right place? You could have taken out more of the original back wall - it's still bisecting the space and placing limits. Fine to leave walls in to define spaces but they need planning.
You could have moved or extended the kitchen and planned the actual size of the extension and location of doors and windows to ensure that your wish list is met.
Planning comes at the beginning, not the end; you end up with unnecessary compromise.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

ha.
We did have a design, and the extension was build around that design.
We wanted the extension to be dining and comfy seating, and the kitchen to be a kitchen.
...But since having the extension in reality and being in the space we are not convinced by it, so we are hoping the MSE crowd can give us some inspiration.0 -
I wish you'd stop moving the furniture around between pictures, I'm easily confused!
Your initial idea makes sense & I think it's a bit late to do anything much different now. I'd tend to put all the appliances together in a "utility area" but it depends on where you have water & power.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
Can I see the original plan as well then, please?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I have updated the Google Drive to contain Pictures of the originally planned Kitchen Design.
(this is the design we fell in love with - but now feel that this ruins the use of the extension/orangery)

I'm not, personally, a fan of combined kitchen/dining/sitting/living spaces. Some activities are, IMO, best kept separate. However, you wanted a single space which is fair enough. Unfortunately the remaining sections of wall are far too big and still effectively cut the space in two. So, I fear you are stuck with treating it as two rooms just with a big open doorway between them. I'm sorry that you've spent a fair chunk of money and been left with something you didn't really want.0
