plaster over two old fireplaces

Hi I have been given a quote of £100 to cover over 2 old fireplaces and a section of a very small alcove, about 1ft in width to ceiling height, approx 13 ft. He said it would only take him a couple of hours, so £50 an hour seems a bit expensive! I live in South Wales by the way.
