"Cashback Credit" - what is this?

Hi,

I have a question on something on my statement, called "Cashback Credit".

It appeared on my LTSB Classic Mastercard. I wasn't aware at all that the card gives me cashback?

I have always paid by Direct Debit in full - surely it wasnt a discount that I received as a result of Direct Debit right?

So what is it actually? Any clues?

Maybe an error, or a deal you were accidentally signed up. You could complain and give the money back if it really bothers you :-)

Perhaps you purchased something offering you cashback after a certain timescale. Mobile phone type of offers spring to mind.

I think you are right that the bank does not pay cashback on Classic Mastercard - unless it is a fairly new card - there was a cashback for 3 months after you opened the account offer around the beginning of the year.

I've had confirmation today that this is in fact cashback from earlier in the year, whereby new account holders were given cashback for the first 3 months.
