Looking for a cheapish remote control for pc connected to a large LCD in lounge. I normally use a wireless mouse but the range doesnt go far enough, has anyone managed to get a remote to work so that you can use the basic media player preferably zoom player?
I wondered if this would work okay, as I have powerdvd just prefer zoom player

I bought this after reading and it works well.
The reason I make this post is that I wanted more integration with the remote control. Yesterday I discovered an open source program called Media Portal. It is amazing. Fully compatable with the remote. Does music, video, pictures, TV with live pause (if you have TV card), radio, RSS feeds, weather.
It is basically turns you PC into a media centre. All for free. You will also need FFDshow and the audio codec (cannot remember the name off the top of my head but its the one you need for Divx). Take a look: -

Hope this is off use to somebody.0 -

If you're impressed with 'Media Portal' you might wish to check out the webpage: http://www.team-mediaportal.com/ especiallay the 'Plugins + Extentions' http://www.team-mediaportal.com/files/ as there is a fair bit on offer to extend its functionality.
If you want more access options then there are these two possibilities:

HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Thanks for that. Will have a look now.0
