you need to be living on your own with at least one child. If you are living with a boyfriend then you are no longer a single parent, even if the child is not theirs.Moving a boyfriend in means you become a couple and if he works then you would get tax credits ect based on his income. If he's unemployed then you claim benefits as a couple.
Your boyfriend wouldn't affect your benefits if you lived seperately.
I was told that your boyfriend could only stay over a maximum of 2 nights per week with you.I'm not sure this is true so it would be best to check.
lost my way but now I'm back ! roll on 2013

Just say you have a kid - this government will throw money at you from all angles. Cynical I know, but unfortuately very true

It's not as simple as that. When deciding whether you have a partner that needs to be taken into account they look at all sorts of things; how much time you spend with them, whether his belongings are at your place, whether friends and neighbours would see you as a couple etc. Also they might decide that you have not been truthful in order to claim benefits. "Living with a guy" means you have a partner. With the high profile the government have put on benefit fraud you might well be reported by neighbours/acquaintances - it can be done online now.

This makes it sound good to be on Income Support but most people will be better off with work and claiming Working Tax Credits.

    meen.....

As suggested, the Benefits & Tax Credits board would be a good place to post for more detailed information.

With child care costs there isn't much in it, off the government if you have a child you get :

    A free house
    Tons of benefits
The more children you have, the more money you get.

What more does one person need?, even wondered why there is so many teenage pregnancies, its not just because lads can't keep their trousers on, the benefits are all to clear!
 What Happened To Summer!?

Yes if you want to live in the sh1ttiest houses/estates, if you think you will automatically get an area/street you want to live in, think again as that takes years.

The OP is asking for informtion and yours is misleading.

I wish I'd known about all of that when I was a single parent. I never got anything like that.

I got just enough money to live on if I was very careful, but there was no scope for luxuries like a meal out or taking the children bowling/to the pictures/to the swimming baths etc.
Here I go again on my own....

    Debt-free and Proud!
Who in the government should I contact, Iom-rf? Only, I'd like some of that as I'm fed up of working and paying bills just like a childless person. Also, would I automatically get 2 free houses since I have 2 children, or just an enormous mansion and loads of dosh?
    Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)
Debt free success date: 14.8.2006 :j

I'm afraid that just does not happen. You are just coming it now
by suggesting each child entitles you to a house or a mansion and loads of dosh.
Anyone on benefits who can afford to have sky tv, nights out, luxury meals are benefit cheats.
Genuine people who find themselves in a situation where they have to claim are being slated and giving a bad name.
