The payments are for shipping costs and repair costs if the product falls out of the warranty terms and conditions. The shipping costs are chargeable regardless whether i go ahead with the repair or not which i believe is unfair.

Is the fault likely to be outside of the warranty terms then? Is it accidental damage?

How long ago did you purchase the item?

Have you got back to Argos and explained about the shipping costs? It may be something that they will arrange for you at their own cost, unless the fault is found to not be inherent.

    hello,

i have contacted argos and they suggest that i contact the company as it is the manufacturers warranty that covers the product.

In which case the manufacturer have replied that the charges are shown in the warranty card.
Upon checking the warranty it does not state anything with regards to charges and fees.

Have sent the information to the credit card company and I am still waiting for a reply.

    thanks

Although no warranty needs to be provided by law, if one is provided then it is legally binding on the terms the party offered it.

However theres no point trying to legally enforce terms of a warranty when you can return to the retailer. Particularly if its less than 6 months from purchase (when the law deems any lack of conformity to be inherent and its for the trader to prove otherwise).

None of this is unusual and pretty standard warranty terms.

What they mean by "if the product falls out side the warranty terms" is that if it's your fault the product is damaged they will charge you for it repair.

postage costs are also often chargeable under warranty but no always.

Like has already been mentioned take it up with the retailer, but then you need to give more details if you want help like that, like how old is it?

Given that you paid nothing to the manufacturer your S75 claim will inevitably fail. You need to take this up with Argos, although answering the question asked in post #8 and again in post #13 is key to receiving sensible responses.

Argos are generally very good with faulty items.

How old is the item, do they agree the fault is inherent?

yes i did go back to argos and they replied that i should contact the manufacturer as it has passed the 30 days return policy

So we've narrowed down 'how old is the item' to somewhere between 31 days and 45 years (when Argos was founded).

We may need to narrow it down a bit more to be able to give the OP some decent advice.

Did you make clear that you were returning it because it was faulty, not just because you had changed your mind ?

You’ve been asked about 5 times now.

When did you purchase the item?!
