New alarm system

We moved into our house about three years ago. There was a Honeywell G4 accenta alarm fitted but it was turned off and never worked. We asked but never got any info from the estate agents about it.
Fastforward and we've found a recommended electrician to fit a new alarm system. He's suggested £450 for a wired Honeywell system with 4-5 new PIR sensors.
I know there are wireless systems and monitored systems but is there a good or recommended solution? Should I be looking at other options?

I'd say wired are better than battery because there's less regular maintenance, but the main hassle is the cost and inconvenience of getting the wiring run in.
But is your existing G4 system wired? In which case, if its got the wiring already installed then you may only need to replace the existing PIRs, door sensors, fit a new panel and a new bell box. I doubt you'd need to replace the wiring.
If it's just changing the components, then you could probably DIY without too much difficulty (although access to bell boxes can be tricky) but even getting someone in - £450 sounds pricey if they can re-use the cabling.0
