Help! lost doc's

Running MS word on Windows 10, trying to help my granddaughter with homework!
I've edited and saved a word document but cannot locate it?
Any advice greatly appreciated, thank you.

Run Word again, down the left hand side there should be a list of recent document. If its not there do you know the name of the document?
If you do know the name the easiest way to search the full PC is to
1. Right click on the windows start button (bottom left)
2. Select file explorer
3. Windows explorer will open. Click on This PCon the left
4. At the top right you will see a search this PC box
5. Enter your word document file name and hit enter
This searches the full computer so could take a while

^^ And if you don't know the name of it, search for all files on the computer and sort by date modified. The Word document should be near the top of the list with the most recent files.

It would probably help to search by file extension, if you know that, otherwise you'll also see lots of system files returned from the search.

Did the document originate from a mail client such as Outlook? It is possible to edit a document there without saving it first, and it is located in a hidden folder which is the very devil to find...
