Window fitter says glass is damaged

Hi, the window fitter that was supposed to be coming today has said he’s been to collect the windows and the glass is damaged.
We’ve paid a £100 deposit so far for 3 windows.
Is it normal to order frames and glass from two different suppliers?
Thanks

Yes, different suppliers is common. But it can also be a sign of poor quality windows, with searching around for the cheapest components. Too late to change anything if this is the case.0

Thank you. They’re Veka Halo windows.
That does not mean they are any good. Veka make the plastic profiles, but who, and where, are these made into windows? Then what ironmongery quality - handles, locks, hinges? Then who makes the glazed units?
Since Veka is only a bit of white plastic it is wrong to say "I have Veka windows". Here one can strike an analogy. You could look at a new car like a MINI and say that is a TATA. Why? Because TATA are likely to be supplying the steel used to make the body.
I have a neighbour who brags about his "German" upvc windows. They use a Rehau white plastic, and because of this foreign sounding name he has been conned into believing they are manufactured in Germany. I know who supplied these windows and they are dire.
Your Veka windows may be good quality. But they could also be a heap of poor quality components, poorly fitted and giving endless problems. Only you know the answer here.0 -

Ahh okay, thanks for explaining that, i didn't realise. I have my fingers crossed that it turns out okay. I found the fitter on RatedPeople but i've come to understand that that doesn't really mean anything either.0 -

Are you covered by an Application for Buildings Regulations, or is the fitter a self certifying his work, such as FENSA?
A rough indication of quality on what you are getting is the guarantees on the window manufacture, the ironmongery, the glazed units and the fitting.
All round these things do matter. A family home had windows fitted around year 2000. There were two criteria. First they had no interest in anything with regards quality. Second they wanted it cheap. The result is windows are dreadful, and they give problems.0
