Washing Machine lid is cracking

I have no idea where to put this so thought I would try here.
I wiped my washing machine down. Thought it was a dog hair. But nope the plastic top that goes from the dispensing drawer and up towards the lid is cracking.
I have owned numerous machines in my life but have never seen anything like that before. The crack seems to have started by the dispensing drawer and moving upwards. Nothing has been dropped and on it and even if it did the crack started on the flat front. The machine was purchase in sept 2016.

Anyone else come across something like this before????
Thanks in advance

Nope that was a drop of fluid.
It seems to be going up and not a crack coming down. I have put a mark on the top of crack to see if gets any bigger
Just really strange.

If the top is made of chipboard, MDF or similar it can swell due to the heat & moisture around. The plastic around it then cracks when it can't take any more. It was very common years ago.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

I wouldn't worry if it was mine. It's cosmetic, can't see how it could affect the use or efficiency of the machine.0

Not worried. But just want to know why. I have not abused the machine. And its only 18 months old.
If it was an really old machine then I would be like it down to age.
It was not hugely expensive. But still don't expect the fascia to start cracking all over the place after 18 months and 3-4 washes a week in it.

I am 45 years old and in all my time of owning and if needed taking the lid off of a washing machine have never seen one with an MDF top.
Normally plastic fascia with metal lid. Which I believe what this one is.
