I would ask for ID.
Well that would mean I couldn't collect then as my main buying account is in a name that I use but is not my legal name, so I don't have any ID at all.
Also I think you miss the point of the thread. The main worry is not an SNAD claim but an INR claim, and a bit of paper will not protect you from that.
I would urge you to read the sticky postage thread as that explains about seller protection on PayPal.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Speaking as a business seller, with plenty of experience - take the cash on collection!!!0

Another thing which always gets me about these transactions. Why is the buyer insistent on using paypal and collect? Especially for something so high valued.
Anyone who does ebay knows that if you going to collect or item it can't be sent. Then it's unlikely the seller will deal this way, so it's cash on collection and you must forego your paypal protection.
I think people who insisting on dealing this way have ulterior motive. You just can't risk it nowadays0 -
You forget that it's dinned into people to not trade off eBay and paypal *protection* blah blah ... most people aren't members of forums and do go any deeper than that level that's dinned into them when they log into the site.I think people who insisting on dealing this way have ulterior motive. The listing will automatically show as PayPal preferred, buyers seeing that or going through checkout to try and contact the seller will be faced with the idea that they must pay by PayPal. Others fund larger purchases with credit cards, just read some of the other boards on here as it is very common, so instead of worrying about raising £200 they bung it on a card and pay it off in instalments.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Even my Dad knows about this rule and he deals with ebay very little!0 -
>Too risky?<
Many factors - what the item is, look at buyer's house in Google Street View, have they uses txt spk in any emails etc0 -
Living in a less than pristine house in a lower rent area does not make you a scammer (- speaking as someone from a less than salubrious postcode who's never scammed anyone.)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
