Barclaycard Debit Adjustment

Hi,

I have a barclaycard Credit Card that I setup a Direct Debit for Oct 2016 to try and pay it off... unfortunately I have not been paying a great deal of attention to my statements and relied on the fact the Direct Debit was setup successfully. Every time I log into my account, I can see the Money coming out but I failed to see that one or two days later the same amount is taken out again saying 'Debit Adjustment'.

This month I went over the limit and received an email to look into my statement and realised what has been happening since then, so I called Barcleycard and in the first call they told me that it is a mistake with the bank and to wait for a call back to get it resolved... I never heard anything back and called them again today. After lengthy conversation they are basically saying that when I setup the Direct Debit (Online) the account number was not there and therefore the money bounce back.

So I asked them how could I have successfully completed the online setup of Direct Debit with no Account... and if it was wrong why was I not informed from day one? In the account it shows that the DD goes through and then one or two days it bounces, but from what they are saying in their system it shows as a successful payment... really confused to be honest!

There is obviously something that has gone wrong from the time I setup the DD... for a long period of time I have not been paying anything into this Credit limit and, the limit keep reducing due to tax on it. They have already refunded me the Over the Limit charge and are offering £100 compensation. I need some help to better understand where I stand with this... is the Direct Debit guarantee cover any such circumstances and what should I be asking as a compensation. Any help would be much appreciated...

Many thanks
Vas

You have been given £100 what more do you want after all the monies that there were bounced back to your bank account is waiting for you to pay off the debt is it not?

How much are you out of pocket for your negligence?

From your post, it sounds like you're saying that you didn't set up your DD correctly, and you didn't check your statements properly - and you've been offered £100 compensation.

    I'd take that and run.

But check whether they've put late payment markers on your credit report.

Since Barclaycard seem to think they've done something wrong, you might be able to persuade them to remove the markers.
