PPI on ‘lost’ accounts

I sent Santander a PPI investigation request regarding some old Abbey National mortgages and a savings account but they said they could only locate one of the accounts and it had no PPI on it. Should I just give up and accept that they cannot find the other accounts? I no longer have bank or mortgage statements from my old addresses.
