Premier Property Lawyers and MyHomeMove - same?

I contacted Premier Property Lawyers earlier today to get a quote. A while later I received a call from someone from MyHomeMove. Being confused for a while I eventually asked whether this was Premier Property Lawyers and was told yes, they are.

Basically, I'm wondering (a) whether they are the same company, and (b) if so, why would they confusingly use a different name and Web site? Considering the potential for fraud in this area, it seems unnecessarily suspicious-looking.

Confusingly, I have now received a quote from them, addressed: quotes@conveyancingservices.net (so, the address is not MyHomeMove or Premier Property!)

You pays your money, you takes your choice, dunroving but forewarned is forearmed. Wish to all the gods someone had told me before it was too late. I spent most of the day of exchange on the phone trying to get these idiots and the solicitors dealing with our purchase to actually talk to each other.

Hmmm, MSE page on conveyancing seems to be positive about MyHomeMove.

    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/mortgages/buying-a-home-timeline (see Point 8)

Separate note, but on a £215k house, straightforward process (cash buyer, deceased estate so no chain), I have been quoted about £1,200. I can't find the MSE "crib sheet" I've seen referred to, but this seems high for online conveyancer ... no?

No, I wouldn't say so but shop around if you are not happy. If using a local conveyancer is not an issue for you as a rule of thumb, the further north you go, the lower the cost of goods and services tends to be. Maybe try the yellow pages.

Can I add that this is the third time I have used Premier Property Lawyers and have found their service faultless and exceptionally better than the "high street " solicitors that my buyers and sellers were using. Maybe I have just got a good one as I request the same person each time as her service was so good

An example being, when purchasing a property a couple of years ago the sellers high street solicitor's secretary/administrator kept telling my conveyencer to keep calling back on a Wednesday as the solicitor "had our paperwork on her desk and we were definitely going to exchange" that day. So my conveyencer duly kept calling... and calling, to the point that she then called the sellers Estate Agent at 4pm to see if they knew any more as our sellers were expecting to exchange that day too, EA called their sols to be told the solicitor in question wasn't in that day, in fact, she didn't work any Wednesday !

Their online system is easy to use, and far better than the snail mail system that our current vendors are having to use

They have loads of company names.

They were absolutely terrible when my hubby sold his house. Thought we'd lose the sale because of their total incompetence but fortunately we didn't.

Premier Property Lawyers are a wholly owned subsidiary of MyHomeMove. There are quite a few conveyancing firms under the MyHomeMove umbrella, e.g. eZie Conveyancing.

I've used PPL twice and have been very impressed with the service I received, but judging by the many negative reviews, I realise it does depend on which conveyancer you have had allocated to your file.

Panicked when I started reading this thread as I've engaged these guys to handle my first property purchase as a FTB. Relieved to hear there are some positive experiences though! Fingers crossed!
