I had the same situation early morning after TC went into administration.

The extremely short version of the story is that in desperation to get the holiday re-booked before prices rocketed (which they subsequently did) I ended up with £19500 outstanding on Credit Cards, but the failed transactions were shown as pending on the CC account and around 5 days later disappeared altogether. No money was taken, but I had to increase my CC limit to "re-book".

The holiday was around £7300 (varied each time I re-quoted). By the end of the day they were quoting £18000 for the same holiday, and at one point it jumped up to £40,100 (glitch I think). By the following morning the holiday was sold out. In my case I did the right thing by re-booking it multiple times until I got to the final confirmation screen. I was a shaking wreck by the end of that day!

Just want to bump this thread as we had exactly the same issue. Booked online - site said an error occurred - payment pending on credit card. Tui said no booking and nothing they could do and price could change.

Rang credit card company who said that in these cases the pending payment is immediately released back into the account - so not to worry although it shows as pending it is available - clearly check with your own credit card company.

After being cut off from Tui's appalling phone system trying to rebook I decided to do it online again but this time to use a different card - (a debit card to pay deposit only then us cc for full balance) and all went through ok and booking was confirmed.

My point is - if this happens don't go to Tui go straight to your card company and ensure money is not taken - then rebook.

It is appalling how their systems are doing this - clearly a fault with their online payment system.
