Balance tranfers

Does anybody know if I will get interest free balance tranfers if I withdraw cash on my current credit card, and transfer the balance to a new one, or is this only available for purchases

    Interest free balance transfers?

Depends - there is usually a fee for doing the BT. But there are some cards that don't have a fee.

If you mean you don't get charged interest on the amount that you transfer, ie 9 months @ 0% interest, it will depend on the card. Different cards have different promotional offers.

Have a look at uswitch for the various offers, and also http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.htm

Hopefully these will be able to help.

The new card doesn't know (or care) whether the balance on the old card was created by purchases or cash withdrawals or whatever. So if the new card offers an interest free period on a BT, then you will still get it, even if your balance was created by cash withdrawals.
  • ...and you will start paying interest on the cash withdrawal the day you take out the money, usually around 2.5% per month.
