PPi Bradford & Bingley - outside FCA rules

Hi all, new to the forum, but having seen the coverage on TV started to do some digging. I had three B&B PPI policies that were sold to us alongside three mortgages (all house moves) taken out in 1995, 1999 and a third in 2001. The mortgages have long since been taken away from B&B and the PPI polices are no longer running. We submitted a complaint re Plevin last November and have just had a response from UKAR / Bradford & Bingley which says:
"Your complaints refers to commission. The dates within which your loans and policy fall mean that they do not meet the relevant criteria under the the Financial Conduct Authority rules. Therefore, no redress is due to you in this respect."
I just wanted to get some views on this, as I've seen various messages and posts which make no real reference to key dates - ins tead implying if you've ever held PPI, you can claim.

Any ideas or thougths most welcome.

Lots of posts on this site covering the dates. Indeed, its almost become an FAQ. The article on this site includes the dates.

Mortgage PPI has a different qualification to loan and credit card PPI.

plevin comes about because of a change in the consumer credit act 2006 under section 140a which was effective from 2008. So, you must have started borrowing after that or had an existing debt at that point for plevin to apply.

Mortgages also were not always covered under the consumer credit act. So, that period is exempt too.

In your case, you didnt have any debt with them in 2008. So, you are outside the scope of Plevin and correctly refused.

While the original MSE Plevin article certainly did give this (false) impression, there have been numerous edits to it since original publication which now make the key dates crystal clear.

As to the forum, I've not seen any posts stating that every rejected PPI complainant is entitled to a Plevin refund.

The Plevin posts here tend to be either about success or failure.

Most failures want confirmation (from random anonymous posters on the internet) that their complaint rejection is correct.
