negotiating deal on new car help!

Hi,
We have seen the car we like, and the dealer has only a few on a special price promotion direct from the manufacturer. Thing is we have downloaded a voucher which is a money off coupon that apparently can be used. It says on the voucher on a separate line - "That's on top of our existing offers". When we asked the salesman about it, he said it can't be used on the car we want to buy as the car has already been discounted. He also said that the voucher had already been "used" within that discounted price - although it doesn't say it anywhere. I'm not sure where to go from here. They sort of have us over a barrel, as there's only one car left in the colour we want. Do we just take their word - even though the money off coupon is being promoted on other websites, or do we take the voucher in and negotiate something off instead - like free mats?! Admittedly comparing it with other car dealers, it looks like it is a good price . Sorry haven't bought a new car in a long time!

If you like the car and you want it - go for it. If the dealer already knows how much you want it, you've lost your ability to walk away if they mess you about!0 -
Doesn't the voucher have something like "terms and conditions apply" at the bottom? (the terms and conditions are usually that it only applies on already overpriced stock, and a few cars they need to get rid of, never on cars that have a waiting list)
Very unusual if you can apply a discount voucher on top of a discounted price for a "double discount"I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science

That's what I was thinking Mr Munchen.0

Says on terms and conditions can't be used with scrappage deal and test drive offer and not a certain car, also says contact your dealer for further details including details of if and how the offer may be combined with other offers. I suppose the "if" in that sentence speaks volumes - Façade.0

If its already a great price and the dealer is refusing to accept the voucher then choices are buy the car at the already great price or walk.
Theres often very little profit on a new car, so it might be very unpalatable for a dealer to apply a discount on top of an already heavily discounted car.0 -
Okay, if that voucher cannot be used, can we still cheekily ask for new mats and full tank of petrol, or do people not get that nowadays?! (told you , been a long time!)0
-
You'll be lucky to get half a tank of fuel.
On the price of the vehicle itself, the most powerful negotiating tool you can have is to have the fully discounted price of the same vehicle obtained from one of the vehicle brokers. You won't get other offers on top of that price (the only exception to that that I've every come across was the old GM Card incentives). Even things like 0% finance may reduce the amount of discount available. However, it should give you a good idea of the maximum that can be achieved. Some manufacturers are, indeed, giving away some of that discount up-front, often in the form of a "Deailer/Manufacturer Finance Contribution".
Ultimately, though, you need to have convinced the Dealer that without the right deal you will walk away.0 -
I’d just buy it before someone else snaps it up

Oh aye. Ask, definitely.0 -
how do you prove you have a better deal from a different dealer, do you ask for a written quote?0
