Help Claiming PPI from General Guarantee

Hi there
Hope someone can help. I had car finance back in 1996 with a company called General Guarantee. I’ve got details/ref of the DD going out of my bank account and wonder how I contact the company to check if I was paying PPI? It’s an RBS sort code so I submitted a claim via ‘Which?’ to them on 10/2/18 but they haven’t responded so I’m assuming they can’t help. Has anybody else had any joy with this company, or have an address? I can’t find them when I google, so I’m wondering if they still exist?
Thanks in advance.

You go to the dealer, they sold you the PPI, if you had it.
As this is pre regulation, if you made a complaint to the dealer, they can refuse on the grounds they were not regulated.

You'd need to complain to whoever sold you the insurance, probably a car dealer rather than "General Guarantee"(who would be simply the lender/insurer).

Unfortunately 1996 is nine years before regulation of general insurance sales and the car dealer (if indeed they are still trading) would be able to simply dismiss any PPI complaint on that basis alone.

Sending your complaint to the Bank was a waste of time since they didn't sell you the insurance (though I'm surprised they didn't reply back telling you this)

in #1 it says he sent it via Which? So, another one of these third party marketing services introducing extra hops with a margin of error.
