I have a Nest Protect which I!!!8217;m happy with. I have the wired version. I have it on the upstairs landing not too far from the boiler which is in the bathroom airing cupboard. It!!!8217;s also a smoke alarm.

I have a normal smoke alarm downstairs in the hall. Unfortunately the Nest isn!!!8217;t really suitable for a kitchen, it doesn!!!8217;t do heat detection alone, only smoke.

How does the Nest manage to combine smoke and CO detection in one unit when I understood smoke alarms had to be mounted at ceiling level and CO detectors were best located lower down, ideally at the level of a sleeping person's "breathing zone" if in a bedroom.

Whilst that's true for a bedroom, it isn't true for other locations.
  • The flat I live in has the boiler in the 2nd bedroom
Not sure if it is a good make, but the seller of my flat got me
Lifesaver model sco. It has the British kite mark etc
Not sure if it is any good. It does have a notice on top of it saying
    “Do not paint”...

The seven year one sounds like the better one, does they show when the battery is low?

Aico CO units last between 10 and 12 years. Seven years isn't very long.

There is no requirement in England or Wales to fit a CO alarm with a gas appliance
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
