How to fight a PCN when not parked in a bay?

Hi all,
I'm hoping somebody can assist with my situation. This is my first time on the forum and I've read through the newbies thread and others, but I can't find something that fits and I'll be honest, there's so much information I'm getting a little frazzled!
Recently my car was parked at Bishop's Stortford rail station car park, it's a pay & display managed by NCP. The car park was totally full, but was parked in a space that didn't cause an obstruction to anyone else and parallel parked against a fence between two other cars. A valid pay & display ticket was bought. My car and literally a dozen others dotted about (including directly in front and behind mine) all had tickets for not being parked in a designated bay. I've viewed the ticket online and the photos clearly show that the car isn't in a bay.
I have no intention of paying this. I have picked up that I need to appeal to get a PoPLA number and I should do this after 26 days. It's been about two weeks, so there is still have plenty of time and I know not to divulge who was driving. Trouble is, I don't know how to appeal while also accepting that the car wasn't in a bay. Any advice?
Cheers!

First of all, edit your post to remove information about who parked. Only ever refer to The Driver and The Keeper, who are two different people. This is explained in the NEWBIES.
Do this before you do anything else. Parking scammers read these fora and have been know to use information against motorists.
What happened on the day is irrelevant. You appeal using the template in the NEWBIES exactly as it appears, then appeal to PoPLA using all the relevant points available to you from post 3 of the NEWBIES if/when your initial appeal is rejected.
Your situation is no different to anyone else's, and the appeal process detailed in the NEWBIES exactly fits your case.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.
