AA Loan - Unknown agreement #

Hi,

I have taken two loans from the AA approximately 10 years ago, however I'm unable to locate any information on either of these loans, with the last and closing payment being made September 2011.

I am looking to complete a PPI claim against my 2nd loan (didn't have it on the 1st), however the AA are saying they're unable to locate my details under my name, DOB or address, and Nationwide are unable to go back any further than Feb 2014 on their systems.

Currently I'm left with my final option being to order statements from Nationwide archives to see if the loan details appear on there, but if there isn't a loan agreement or account number I'm not sure how helpful this will be?

Any help on how I may be able to gather information on the loan(s) that were taken back then would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

It won't be "helpful" in the least. Old bank statements are not only expensive, they won't show PPI on your loan nor will the payment reference have any bearing on the account number you need.

Basically, your only truly "final" option is to send AA a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter. For a £10 fee, this will return all information the AA have kept on file for you.

If the SAR returns no pertinent information and you have no documentary evidence from your own archive, then any complaint has failed before it's started.

Thanks for the quick reply :)
That was the advise given to me by Nationwide, but did think it would be limited to the information it would provide.

My concern on the SAR would be that I have already provided my full name, DOB & previous addresses, so if they're suggesting they cannot find an account, is it likely that a SAR will return anything?

I do not have the account number or date the account was opened which are the other things they have asked me to provide. Does the SAR process involve them doing a 'deeper' search for me and my old accounts? Sorry for the additional questions, you can probably tell I'm new to this!

Probably not, but it will involve a more thorough search than your previous informal request.

I refer you to my earlier response. You're unlikely to be able to take this any further without documentation from your own archive.
