None of which is a counter to my original post!

Why would it be? I'm not here to have a petty argument with someone for the sake of it. Posting on this part of the forum is supposed to be about helping people (i.e. by giving relevant practical advice) rather than trying to 'win'.

In that respect molerat's initial post said about as much as needed to be said, unless the OP is forthcoming with a lot more infomation such as the answer to YorkshireBoy's questions.

Interesting, because nothing I initially said was inaccurate and actually did expand understanding of how account approval works. You then posted a comment that didn't add anything. When I replied you tried to argue with me, but of course, you weren't trying to "win".

You did try and argue with me about something around which there was no argument to be had. I actually explained to you in my initial reply that I was providing greater context. You still tried to argue.

That's your personal opinion though. I felt the OP might benefit by being aware that Nationwide are one of the least likely to decline new applications on commercial grounds, and it is quite rare for us to hear of cases on the forum.

That tends to support the view that a credit search frequency issue is to blame, whereas a decline from HSBC (for example) might lead to a different conclusion.

Whether or not that helps the OP is a matter for them. This is an open forum and we are all allowed to comment and express views. Hopefully it will stay that way :)
