Buyer ignoring requests for payment

Thanks for responses.
I guess that on the basis that there are more honest people than dishonest the chances of getting a dishonest one were outweighed by the inconvenience of having to come back.
Exactly that. The probability of dishonesty and relatively low value of the item vastly outweighed the inconvenience.
Perhaps the piano is still in the neighbour's carport?
Was no longer there the following day
It really is worrying that some people need something like this happen to them before they realise that delivering an item before payment might not be a good idea.
Goods / services before payment is quite normal. In the past week, I've had my hair cut before payment, my car MOT'd before payment, my house cleaned before payment and eaten a meal in a restaurant before payment.0 -
If I were the buyer then I would NOT be happy at it being left in a carport on the coldest weekend this country has seen for some years.
You'd have to have a hell of a cheek to complain about where it was left given that the only reason it was left there was you not being in at the agreed time!
Coldest weekend? It was a lovely warm afternoon.0 -
Get real. You do seem to love threatening court action at every turn. Not worth it.
A letter before action is often a quick and easy way to get your money, particularly if there is evidence as there is in this case.
The OP has the agreement of delivery at a certain date and time, the neighbour can verify the buyer wasn't there, and the buyer has written his intent to pay.
It may just be "a small amount of money", but personally people who don't cough up what they owe deserve being stung.
Or perhaps you should just offer to pay instead if money isn't that important to you? I'm sure the OP would PM you their bank details...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

None of those are anywhere similar to a secondhand sale on a facebook site.
The buyer hasn't paid you yet you've deemed it acceptable to deliver to a point that neither of you agreed.0 -

Those are services, and its common place for services to be paid for afterwards, and the reason for that is you often dont know how much you owe until after the service has been provided.
If you cannot tell the difference between these scenarios and your piano saga then there isnt much hope.0
