Putting up a splashback, best way to clean wall?

Hi guys,
I am putting up a glass splashback and have a plain, painted wall in the place I want it to go. The problem is, the wall is a bit grubby from the oil when cooking so the wall is stained. What is the best way to clean the wall so a splashback can be put up? Would warm water on a sponge be enough or would I need someone stronger to clean it sufficiently?

You won't be able to clean the oil splashes they will have stained through the plaster. You could try Zinsser Bin on the oil stains, allow to dry and repaint the wall.0

Would warm water and baking soda do a similar job? Also, would the splashback still stay attached with strong adhesive?0

Problem is if it's strong enough to remove the cooking stains it's going to remove the paint too.
You need to block it and repaint so its nice and fresh and even.0 -
Mr Muscle Kitchen Cleaner will remove a lot of grease, and should remove the paint unless you are too aggressive with it. Use it with a micro-fibre cloth and it should get rid of the grease. Just keep spraying and wiping until it is all gone, then repaint. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0
