    Something like this?
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.domobile.applock&hl=en_GB

Adverts are part and parcel of Android apps especially if you want to use them for free

As to extend battery life, most apps have no real effect on extending battery life, you'd do better to dump things like live wallpaper, widgets, not leave the Wi-Fi on when you're not using it, turn off push notifications, etc.

Hi mike, tried the one before you mentioned it, way too many ads! However....2 spaces next to it on play store was an app with a similar name, max app lock, that has a very simple interface.!!!8230;..and FAR less ads. Thanks for the advice!

Tip. There is no such thing as an app that can extend battery life.

Andy pix....agree. installed one yesterday. .. ao full of adds and spam I un installed it next day. No noticeable improvement.

There seem to be some good guides that DON'T install an app. Will have a look at those. Also I think battery could do with maybe changing, was sent a spare new one with reco galaxy mini s3. Ta for the input!

The more apps you add the less time the battery is likely to last.

Why not just lock the phone? No access to the apps then.

No battery extender (snake oil AFAIK) but for an app to protect individual apps (uses a number instead of a word) I have been using 'Apps lock' for quite a while now.

Free, and doesn't display any ads. Also has a 'take a selfie' option for unauthorised attempts where it snaps whomever is trying to access the app.

Now unavailable on Play store, but other options by the same dev (Cheetah Mobile) seem to be still available. This appears to be the latest version and is ad free.
