Engie - can they use an E7 meter as a standard?
Hi all,
We are shortly coming to the end of our fixed deal and Engie are coming out as one of the cheapest. We are currently on a Scottish Power E7 meter but we don’t benefit from E7 so wish to switch to a standard rate fixed tariff. Do Engie have the capability to add both day and night readings together? When we switched to Scottish Power they claimed the couldn’t do this despite our previous provider being able to do this.
If Engie can’t, what would be the best way to get our meter changed? We don’t want a smart meter due to the current issue of switching providers but would have a standard one installed. Would it be better to get Scottish Power to do this and s witch to their Standard tariff for a couple of weeks [no tie in] before then moving to Engie?
Advice appreciated!

Before you rush into changing meters or combining the high/low , spend 5 minutes on Uswitch inputting your yearly usage in both day/night and total ,in kwhs only.
I think you may be surprised at how cheap the best Eco 7 tariffs are (one year fixes )
In my area Iresa Energy are charging 11.5p/kwh day, 8p/kwh night and 21p a day standing charge.
Even if your night usage was only 15% of total those rates would take some beating. The more night rate used would effectively lower the day rate use and night rate is on until 8.30 am in BST.0
