Which student discount card should i get?

I am looking for a student discount card and my school (Yr 12) offers the NUS card. However i found out about the ISIC card for £9 which is international.
Doe sthe ISIC card cover everything in the NUS card or do they offere different discounts. I know Burtons covers both cards but is this the saem for all places offereing discounts to NUS/ISIC?
Which one should i get?!
Craig.

  • Try and get yourself an NUS extra card. They're much more widely accepted than ISIC, (which will probably just be met with confused stares in this country) and incorporate ISIC so you can use them abroad. Also, your students union will get £4 out of it :)

He won't be able to get an NUS Extra card as that is only for University students. You can get an NUS Associate card but you don't get all the discounts an Extra card does. I never bothered in 6th Form as they gave everyone an ID card and most places just accepted that.
  • NUS Extra is only for University Students and it costs £10 and well ya University Students Union should be registered as well. Check https://www.nusextra.co.uk for more details on this.
  • What student card should i get everytime i search for one and find something usefull its for england.

The NUS extra card encorporates the ISIC card... Two cards for the price of the NUS extra...

Or just don't bother - I've got neither card and have never had a proplem getting sudent discount with my university ID - either here or overseas...

Incorrect - sixth form colleges can issue NUS Extra cards if the college's union is registered with NUS.
  • I dont know what you want the discount card for. but as it was said before

there is no need for a card for most places unless you want to get the really high discounts that some schemes have to offer. for example taste london 70pounds (not really for students but gives you discounts in hundreds of places upto 50% on food) or 1eat.co.uk the student equivalent which is only 10 pounds.
I got the two cards and personally use the 1eat more as it covers more of the restaurants which i eat at; but its your choice

I'm not a university or a college student but managed to get the NUS Extra Card.

I am currently a self-tuition student with Kaplan Distance Learning doing an Accountancy course and registered with Association of Accounting Technicians. I logged on to the NUS website, found the AAT establishment and got the card without fuss!

So no, you don't have to be at university or college to get the card. I believe Open University students can also apply. You just have to check whether the establishment is listed on the NUS website and do it that way...

yes OU students can get an NUS extra card but then the open uni is an accredited university.
  • I got a StudentsInNeed discount card recently and it gives you useful discounts (up to 20%) on things like travel, music, clothes, etc. It's also cheaper than the NUS card and is open to students of all ages.
