First Time Buyer - waiting on Draft Contract

Hello,
I'm new to this and new to buying a house too! I'm just looking for a bit of advice really on awaiting draft contracts from the seller...
Our offer was accepted on 30/01/18 and so we got the ball rolling. Me and my other half have done everything from our end (filled out all information required etc and passed this onto our solicitors)
We have been waiting since 12/02/18 for the seller to sign their documents.
We received an email from our solicitors on 20/02/18 advising that they have chased the sellers solicitors but they (the sellers solicitors) are still waiting on signed documents from their client.
We were okay with this as it's our first time buying a house and understand it's a long and frustrating process...
We received a second email today 02/03/18 from our solicitors to say we are still in the same position we were in February and they are still currently waiting on draft contracts from the seller's solicitors.
Also, the seller isn't looking for somewhere else to live, the house is chain free as they used to rent out the house.
Basically, we are just wondering on the time schedule of things as it's our first time buying a house and not sure how long everything roughly takes? Also, is it worrying that the seller still hasn't signed anything yet?
Thank you

There are two (or three if the property is leasehold) main forms that need to be completed and signed by the seller, and supplied to their solicitor. They are the Property Information Form and Fixtures and fittings form.
Along with these the seller's solicitor will send the draft contract and Land Registry title documents, along with any other supporting documentation supplied by the seller.
Some sellers are very organised and have this paperwork ready prior to accepting an offer. Others are less organised and struggle to get everything to their solicitor. Sounds like your seller falls in to the latter category.
Get on to the EA through whom you are buying and get them to chase up their client.0 -
Hello,
Thank you for explaining what information needs to be supplied from the seller. It does seem like the seller is less organised than expected...
I have tried contacting our EA, however they are out of the office until Monday due to the bad weatherHopefully, they should chase up the client and get things in motion for us.
Thank you for your reply!0 -
EA should chase up for you when they are back in. It may be that he has sent them off in the past 2-3 days, but its not been delivered yet. Around here the royal mail have let all the staff stay at home so we have had no post for 3 days - our seller has confirmed to EA he posted paperwork to solicitors 48H ago but they wont have got it yet. Wait til monday and just see what the EA says, am sure will be fine- vendor probably just not as motivated/excited as you are0
