Santander 123

It's just occured to me that with no council tax payments in February and March that I will not have 2 direct debits going out so will I still get my 1.5% interest?.

You do need two Direct Debits being in place, not going out every single month.

I presume, you haven't cancelled the DD for Council Tax, so you will be alright for the interest.

Send money to a friend or family member using PayPal. PayPal recently stopped punters adding money to their account by direct debit, but it's still possible to use a direct debit to send funds.

Or open a Post Office savings account and make a deposit by direct debit.

    Unnecessary

Santander stipulates only '2 active Direct Debits'. There is no requirement for those DDs to pay out every month.

To avoid this issue in the future you can request by telephone to change your Direct Debit to 12
monthly payments. You can also do this with your water rate`s Direct Debit which we have changed from 8 monthly payments to 12 monthly payments. You can even choose the day of the month when the Direct Debit goes out eg. 26th not 1st. This means your cash earns a very small increase in interest:). Now is a good time to make these changes before the new annual payments start in April.

You will still get the interest as the direct debit will still be registered even if not collected. The cashback for February and March will be lower though. So long as on your direct debits active screen at least two are showing you should be fine.
