B Gas to B Gas Switch - Exit Fees or Not?
I'm new here guys and it's good to be here.
I was looking at the energy club and saw the British Gas All Online Mar_2019 fixed until 31.03.19 offer.
Currently, I am on the British Gas tariff HomeEnergy Fixed Mar 2019 which has early exit fees of £40 per fuel.
Switching should save me around £200 over the coming year based on the projections and it entails switching products within British Gas.
I read somewhere that as I'm switching within Britsh Gas, the early exit fees won't apply and given the energency situation in the UK at the moment, I dont want to trouble them with this, but I thought maybe somebody here would know if it is indeed the case that the early exit fees won't apply.
Thank you for any and all help guys and I lok forward to being a part of the community here:beer:.

Welcome to the forum. You are on a very expensive tariff. If your details are set up correctly in MSE Cheap Energy (that is, the correct tariff) then it will show you the tariffs that you can switch to. Before committing yourself to another BG tariff, have a look at what else is on offer. For example, if you switch to Bulb via a referral link, then you will get a credit of £50 added to your account on transfer. Bulb will also refund your exit fees. Their tariff price has just been increased by 2.8% but it is a variable tariff with no exit fees. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. If you are just switching to another BG tariff the early cancellation fees do not apply.0

Normally BG waive exit fees if you switch to another of their tariffs BUT they are desperate for profits, making loads redundant etc so they have to make money somewhere.
You need to examine the terms and conditions of your existing tariff and see if there is anything written in there which will allow a switch to another of their tariffs without having to pay the penalty.
You could also look on comparison sites such as the one suggested above and see if you will save more than the penalties by switching.0 -
