Buying ipads for a school

Lordy, this is too big a subject for a forum - if you're about to spend 30 grand plus, you need to do so with support and for whoever is making the purchasing suggestions to have really done due diligence on the software needed and licensing, maintenance contracts, insurance, replacement and upgrade schedules, kiosking to prevent kids playing warcraft in class, etc. A poor purchase decision could waste enough money to pay for another teacher, it's a big deal, and the school will not be the only one to have to have made this decision, there will be other schools within the LEA area who have been where you are now, and you need to see how they've ended up. Honestly, a managed, leased service is almost certainly your best bet.

Have you had any training as a computing coordinator; I think the general feeling here is that you have been shoved in the deep end, and you're not swimming, you're just going through the motions. ;-)

You really should start by looking at the software you need (want?) to run. How and why are tablets needed? Android models would be a lot cheaper but may not meet your requirements.

As pointed out, will you need to do the updating of software on all 30 tablets, the licensing, the software and checks to prevent misuse etc. What would the parents say if some kid downloaded or accessed pornography?
