3 Year Old House Losing Roof Tiles

Hello all
We moved in to our house last September. The property is 3 years old in April and we lost 1 or 2 ridge tiles from the roof last night in the bad weather. We also lost a hanging tile on the bay of the property last October.
The home is not covered by the builders warranty that expires after 2 years and I don't think a relatively cheap job like this would be covered by NHBC warranty, but surely a new roof should be able to withstand wind???
Can I go to the builder and request that they repair the roof free of charge?
Thanks

So the roofer came Saturday morning and replaced the ridge tile. He told me that none of the ridge tiles on that part of the roof had been screwed down so it was no wonder one flew off! It landed on my neighbours roof and damaged a tile which I had to get replaced.0

Slap yourself over your wrists and beat yourself with a stick. Then reflect and do a reality check. This forum is "money saving" but it also does wisdom, consumer advice, and brain storming. With this in mind it is a reality that new homes are not well built, and it is a reality that there is no quality control procedures with new home building. Your ridge tiles came off, but what did you expect?
Now ask yourself some searching questions. Why didn't the previous owners commission a full survey before purchase, or undertake snagging, or make a claim in the two year guarantee period? Any of these simple procedures would have prevented the ridge tiles coming off. Then consider your purchase. Where was your full survey, snagging and all round due diligence?
in fairness, and in mitigation, you may have made a commercial decision. Namely you save money by avoiding any surveys and weigh this against what you pay out on remedial works. Fine by me if this is the case, but for most folks this is a risky scenario.
Now do a further reality check. You know your hanging tiles are defective so why are you not claiming under the NHBC Warranty? You know your roof was defective, so what else is wrong here? Did you request the roofer to re-new all the ridge tiles then continue with the eaves? Did you commission a report on the state of your roof?
You may be happy with matters but were it my home no way would i be going along like this. Remember, one day you will probably be selling your home. What happens if a multitude of defects get picked up with a survey then?0
