The above is not true. I had a successful claim of a 3rd party's insurer, it was very little hassle, notified my own insurer only and it has had no effect on premiums.

Thanks for all for the replies - my insurer (AXA) says they have put the 50/50 offer to Gallagher Bassett (Asda's insurers) but I haven't heard anything yet.

On a related note, AXA's claim customer service is dreadful. Not once have I been able to get through on their claim line as it's always busy and even named agents don't respond to my emails.

The only way I could get a response from AXA was to complain to them on Twitter! Then you get grovelling apologies from the happy clappy social media teams.

Yet another example of marketing messages being totally at odds with the actual customer service delivery!

Severe weather conditions = more accidents and staff not getting in.

In fairness I've tried to contact the call centre over the last two months and never got through so it's not just severe weather it's insufficient staff numbers to cope with demand

Another +1 for a dashcam. Whilst it may not have recorded the actual incident, it would have provided footage of your lane discipline/position prior to impact.
    The man without a signature.

Any recommendations for a dash cam that doesn't cost the earth?

An incident doesn't affect your premium immediately, but at renewal

But do dummy quotes online with and without the claim in your history to see what difference having this in your history makes to your premium.
