I can't see any advantage to the eSaver
To be honest, they are both very poor accounts.
If you tell us approx how much you have to save, what you are saving for etc, I'm sure we can come up with some much better accounts.0 -
Great thanks!
I want to save around 400-450 a month! Saving up just in general really!

There are lots of different options and they partly depend on your capacity to move money around between accounts (and open new current accounts). If you have a Santander Everyday account then you can open a regular saver with them, which pays 3% on up to £200 per month. However, if you were able to change your account to a 123 Lite account (£1 fee, but cashback on all of your utility bills and council tax - likely to more than cover the fee) they would pay you 5% in the same account. This would cover half of the money you are looking to save.
You could also look at opening another current account with a different bank to access their regular saver too, for example First Direct will pay you 5% on up to £300 per month. If you did decide to go down this route, however, you would be wise to take advantage of their switch offer, which will pay you £125. Don't switch your main account, however. Open a second Everyday Current Account with Santander and then switch that to First Direct.
Of course, if you already have some savings then a better option might be a Nationwide FlexDirect, which pays 5% on balances up to £2500, and gives you access to a regular saver paying 5% on up to £250 per month.

Others may have other and/or better ideas, but this is at least somewhere to start, and better than Santander's Everyday Saver's poor 0.25% rate.0 -
